Laying Guidelines
Edenstone Masonry NQ pavers should be installed by a qualified tradesperson experienced in laying large-format pavers.
Our General Conditions and Laying Procedures outline the required preparation, installation methods, and best practices to ensure correct performance and longevity. These documents are supplied with every pallet and are also available for download via the link at the top of this page.
Proper site preparation is essential. Sub-base requirements vary depending on the application — for example, pool surrounds require different preparation to driveways. Always ensure the laying surface is suitable for its intended use.
When fixing coping or bullnose units to a substrate, consult your supplier to ensure a high-quality, appropriate adhesive is specified.
Cutting Edenstone Pavers
Yes, Edenstone pavers can be cut.
Our pavers are manufactured from sand, cement, and aggregates, which naturally contain silica. For safety, always:
-
Use appropriate PPE (including respiratory protection)
-
Use a well-maintained wet saw in good working order
-
Never dry cut concrete pavers
Dry cutting concrete products is unsafe and must not be undertaken.
Sealing Pavers
Why Seal Pavers?
All masonry products — including concrete, terracotta, and natural stone — are porous and benefit from sealing.
Because masonry contains microscopic pores, it can absorb moisture, dirt, and contaminants. Applying a high-quality penetrating sealer:
-
Protects the paver from within
-
Makes cleaning easier
-
Reduces staining
-
Assists in minimising the effects of efflorescence
Sealing is recommended even for covered or indoor applications.
How to Seal Pavers
-
Keep pavers wrapped in protective plastic until ready for use to prevent contamination.
-
Ideally, apply at least one coat of penetrating sealer before installation. This helps reduce handling stains.
-
Ensure pavers are clean and completely dry before sealing.
-
Newly manufactured pavers may retain moisture.
-
Unpack and allow them to air-dry for several days if possible.
-
-
For cleaning:
-
Use water and a clean green scouring pad for general marks.
-
White vinegar can be used for minor efflorescence.
-
Never use acid.
-
Never use high-pressure water.
-
Always follow the sealer manufacturer’s application instructions. When applied correctly, quality penetrating sealers do not create a slippery surface and can assist in maintaining slip resistance.
Efflorescence
Efflorescence is a naturally occurring characteristic of all masonry products and is beyond manufacturer control.
While Edenstone Masonry NQ takes all reasonable steps to minimise its occurrence, efflorescence is not considered a warrantable issue.
Product Standards & Quality
Edenstone Masonry NQ pavers:
-
Comply with relevant Australian Standards
-
Meet requirements for dimensional tolerance
-
Provide certified slip resistance
-
Deliver structural strength and durability
-
Are salt safe
As our products are made from natural materials and cement blends, minor colour and size variations can occur. These are within industry tolerances. For best visual consistency, we recommend blending pavers from multiple pallets during installation.
